If you've purchased a new Xbox 360 console, you can transfer everything (games, videos, music, saved games, gamertags, and even your hard-won achievements) to your new console!
Two options are available for moving your precious information. You can either use the Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable  to move everything to your new console, or you can connect a USB flash drive if you have only a small amount of content such as your gamertag and saved games.
The Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable can be purchased online or from a local game retailer.

Important:  Use only the Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable to move your content.  Microsoft does not license, support, or guarantee the functioning of cables made by other manufacturers.
To transfer content to your new console, you need the Hard Drive Transfer Cable and the latest console software. To get the latest console software, sign in to Xbox LIVE on your new console. If your console needs new software, you'll be prompted to install it. If your console is not connected to Xbox LIVE, you can use your computer to download the console update from the Internet. Here's how: Get a Dashboard update.
Once you have the Hard Drive Transfer Cable, you're ready to transfer content.

To transfer content to another console

    1. Remove the hard drive from your old Xbox 360 console. How do I do this?
    2. Connect the transfer cable to your old hard drive.

    3. Plug the other end of the transfer cable into a USB port on your new console. When both ends of the cable are connected, you are ready to transfer content.

    Choose Yes, transfer to console.
Note: If this message does not appear, sign in to Xbox LIVE to get the latest console software. Here's how: Get a Dashboard update.
    5. Select Start to begin the content transfer.

The transfer might take several hours to complete, depending on the amount of content stored on your old hard drive. Once the transfer is complete, sign in to Xbox LIVE and enjoy your new Xbox 360 console.

    Content Licenses

After your content is transferred to the new console, some content might still be associated with your old Xbox 360. Don't worry, you'll still be able to play the content on your new console as long as you are signed in to Xbox LIVE using the gamertag that originally purchased the content.
However, if you want to use all of your transferred content without signing in to Xbox LIVE or with a different gamertag, you'll need to transfer the content licenses to your new console. For information on how to do this, please go to www.xbox.com/drm.

    Using a USB Storage Device

If you need to move only a small amount of content (such as a gamertag or a saved game), you can use a USB storage device to move the content to your new console. You can find information about using a USB storage device at www.xbox.com/storage.
Note: The Xbox 360 console can copy a maximum of 16 gigabytes (GB) to a USB storage device. If you need to transfer more than 16 GB of content, you should use the Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable.
